Strings on Harp

So, strings on and totally out of tune :)

This is a fast Ipad photo, I will make some more "serious" ones when I´ve finished the guitars that I´m french polishing at the moment.

Harp raw finished

So here´s the raw finished harp. The neck still hasnt been attached  to the body, its just "hanging" there. The edges of the neck/head needs to be shaped and everything is going to be cleaned up and sanded before assembly and French Polishing.
But for the first time it looks like a harp even though all stringed instruments look kind of strange without strings. Its the strings that make the thing look right.

Starting guitars 127 & 128

So, i came home from my summer break a few weeks ago. It always takes a little while to settle down kind of "get my act together".
But here´s what is going on here at the start of the new season.
So far 2 soundboards ready, with rosettes made:

#128, A 1A flamenca negra with spruce soundboard:

#127, a 2A flamenca blanca with cedar soundboard:

Both are available when finished.

more soundport

Here you have 2 pictures of the soundport that #125 will have. On top before the back was glued on and below, with back and bindings. The port is still in "raw" meaning that it not finally shaped. That is one of the last things I do before finishing.

starting the soundport

# 125 is going to have an inlayed soundport, so here I´m gluing the patch before cutting and shaping the port.

Here´s the soundboard for 125 and 126.
I thought I didnt have more of these very pale Cedar soundboards, but in the end I find one, which is what my client wanted first.

#122 finished

#122 is a very typical blanca of mine. Fast and explosive and with a lyrical edge. Spruce top, Mediterranean back and sides and mechanical pegs from pegheds.com

guitar #123 finished

#123 is a 1A flamenca negra, with spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and contrasting mahogany bindings. One of my most elegant negras if you ask me.

guitar # 124 finished

So here´s #124, a flamenca negra 2A.
Its a very nice and percussive flamenca negra.
Spruce top, mahogany and Padauk for the back and sides

A harp soundboard

So while the guitars are being polished and lacquered, I have worked a bit on my harp project. Here´s the soundboard. German spruce. Very stripy quality that doea that i cant sell guitars if I use the wood for that. But the acoustical properties are very good and I have a gut feeling that the stripes will look very good on the harp.
The first picture shows how simple a gluing setup can be. Its a matter of keeping everything level and putting some pressure on the boards.
