purfling

My standard purfling system for 1A guitars has the last 3 - 4 years been what I call the window. It frames each of the 2 parts of the back and the sides with purling on the inside, everything neat and with 45 degrees mitering. Its a very difficult way to do the purfling, but its also very elegant and prestigeous. The most problematic part is the burfling on the back because it has to be cut very precisely in both ends.

On the other hand, when I build a 2A, I dont use purfling on the back and sides, and there´s something about that, that I really like. Simplicity and contrast.

3 good reasons for having an armchair in the workshop

1) Relaxing them old bones, reading and just letting time pass.

2) Inviting your best friend to relax in your workshop

3) Leaving things which are in the way. This is a 2A blanca that I´m building. It´ll be for sale for 2000,-€ when finished.

Still painting boat

I´m not in a hurry. I dont like painting to much, I have other things to do, so progress is slow.

Again, two different ways of doing the same thing. Here I´m gluing the bridge strap and since I brace my soundboards flat, it can be done either way. The bracing itself will only be done in the press. When bracing with the grain, you easily leave an imprent on the top if you put to much pressure and with the clamps, I dont have the same control of the pressure

Installing geared pegs

I´m building a peghead which´ll have 8mm pegheds (Ramirez) from pegheds.com. They have an internal 1:4 gearratio. I´ve made a preintallation. I´ll leave there untill after the French polish. The pegs still need to enter a few more milimeters, but since I´ll have to clean up after FP, the reamer is not going to be used more for now.

Logitech C920 webcam used to record musical instruments

Ok here you have my little rebiew of the Logitech 920C Webcam.
First of all, as a Webcams its really great. Bright, clear sound and movements are very good. But this review is about performance when recording guitars and other instruments.
My first try was with the cam on the screen of my laptop and me sitting in front. This I didnt like at all. I had to turn recording volume all the way down. And the final sound was very canny. Not natural at all. Then I attached the cam to a trípode and and left it further away. This gave much better results. I could turn up the volume a bit and the sound was more natural. Its still a bit on the soft side. Just like when you record with consator microphones made for human voices.
Tecnically the cam is very nice but the software is not something I like. Its a big error that you dont have the microphone volume slider on the recording screen. You have to go into preferentes and adjust. Its also annoying that theres no recording indicador telling you when you start distorting. These are things that could be fixed. Maybe I should write Logitech. Another annoying thing is that everytime you open the software, you have to turn off right sound. If you dont, it rounds like you are using a pedal wha or a flanger.
I havent decided if I keep the Webcam. My old Panasonic Camcorder has a microphone that is much more dynamic but it also is a bit on the bright side and its a lot more work to record......

I´ve made 3 recordings. All of them with best sound quality. The first is with highest settings on video and cam 1,5 away (Soleá)
second is medium settings video and the cam 2m away (Tientos)
third is highest video and cam 2m away (violin playing Irish jig)
REMEMBER to put video on 720HD
