simple
I like to keep things simple. So instead of the usual white/black/white purfling, this one has a 1,5mm thick solid cypress purfling.

It is summer
So thats why nothing is happening here. Gardening, repairing house and sailing is what i do the most these days.
When I go back indoors, I will start building again. :-)

Just thinking
So I bought this poster with dimensions on the backside from thestrad.com.
Its a Jacob Stainer violin from 1679. A Baroque Violin
Maybe this autum/winter I will start building a baroque violin. The reason I chosed the Stainer is:
* The only violin made by "the old masters" that I have tried was a Stainer and it was the sweatest little thing I have tried. Very good for everything pre-romantic era and for fiddling. Being Jazz or folk.
*Its the only poster of a true baroque violin out there. All the others have been converted.
I will not make a 100% coupy, mainly because wood is always different and what Stainer used may have had a different density or stiffnes than what I will use. but I will try to respect the original as much as possible. It has a very nice neckangle. Not totally flat and stil very baroque. The back is extremely thin. Less than 1,5mm in many places. and I have a feeling that I should go somewhere close to that to get the real elegant Stainer feel. We´ll see what happens. :-)

preparing wood
so, after 3 weeks where I didnt do anything in the workshop, I´m back on track.
Slowly because spring is here, my house needs some attention and the garden as well.
Here you have the backs and sides for 3 guitars ready for assembly.

#135 finished
This is a blanca. 100% my taste. Cypress back and sides, German spruce top and a soundport. Thats how I like them the most. Take a good look at the beautifull "baybeaclawing" on the soundboard. Yummi.
I will take a short break from the workshop, but will start the building of another blanca, this time without a soundport, within a couple of weeks.

Blanquita ready for French polish
I will start the FP when I have strings on the two other guitars that I´m building.
So, the two flamenco guitars that I have built this winter both have soundports. But that doesnt mean that I only build flamenco guitars with soundports. Actually I think that some 65 -70% of the flamenco guitars that i have built the last years have been without soundports. I personally prefer guitars with soundports, but I also like a good guitar without a soundport and I will start the building of such a blanca this spring.

Bridges
So, I decided to add my own personal touch to the bridge tie block.
I know very well that its not 100% perfect, but at least its made by me and not imported from Korea or Russia where its been mass produced.

Just pictures. I know I´m not much of a writer. I prefer to build and take photos. And I talk to much as well. :-)
