Action on the last day of the year

Here you see the classical guitar having the soundboard attached to the neck and its sides are being bent. The Cedartop negra is standing on the floor with sides attached and innerlinings being glued.
So happy new year. :-)

Bending the sides

The old homemade bending machine, with my dad´s old toaster as a heating element, has survived the move to Denmark and is cooking well.

2 soundboards braced

To the left, the bracing for the cedar top negra. Basically a standard flamenco bracing with a little bit more angle in the braces and a bridge strap
To the right, my version of the Hernandez y Aguado bracing pattern for a classical spruce top guitar.

cutting the heel

So here I am cutting the heel with a small knife. Its a very sharp small Frost knife which I use all the ways I am
not supposed to do. Cutting against myself and holding the blade with my fingers. But fortunately, I never cut myself when working. I cut myself in the kitchen, in the garden and so on. And I also put my thumbs into dor openings and slam the door. Just look at my left hand thumb :-(

2 pictures from the workshop

So here you have 2 views from the workshop. They ar right from when I started building again a few weeks ago so everything is nice and clean. Its a a small workshop, only some 11m2. But thats enough for an assembly room and its easy to keep it climate controlled, with central heating, humidifyer and a dehumidifyer.
I have another workshop room with machines and which can also be used for general DIY and woodbutchering. :)

I'm preparing wood for 2 guitars which will be assembled seperately and finished together.
The first one is a classical guitar with Indian rosewood and spruce soundoard and the second will be a flamenca blanca with cypres back and sides and a spruce soundboard.

A video of #131

Antonio Cobra from Portugal has made this video of #131 and has kindly allowed me to put it on my blog. Enjoy his lovely playing :-)

#131 finished

So here you have #131. A hibrid that I actually would prefer to call a Flamenca Negra de Concierto.
It is clearly more flamenco than classical, but compared with my purebred flamenco guitars it has a little bit more sustain and harmonics in the trebles. A very powerfull and strong sounding guitar. I hope the owner will make a video soon.

Minera

Thanks to Antonio Cobra from Portugal for making this video of #129 and letting me use it here:

The bracing finished

The bracing for this hybrid guitar is based on my old 7 strut flamenco bracing. I use 5 struts for pure flamenco these days (years)  It gives a bit more control over the surface with some more harmonics and sustain

The soundboard with rosette for #131

This is a very beatifull piece of cedar. Very consistent color. I have made the white rings in the rosette a little wider than normal in order to make it stand out more clearly.
